When you visit this website, there are 2 ways that we may collect information from you:

1. Requests to provide personal information

We may collect personal information that you choose to give us, or which may be required to access our services or in accordance with legislative requirements. This includes information collected via online forms and tools for uploading documentation in support of a fee waiver application or payment plan application.

In most circumstances, you will know if we are collecting personal information from you because you will be asked to provide it. For example, if you submit a form to contact us through this website, we will ask you to provide your name and email address.

The information you provide by completing a form on this website is stored securely in the department’s record management system or another appropriate database.

We take reasonable steps to make sure that your personal information and health information is protected from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. Access to systems, applications, and the information that we collect is limited to authorised staff only.

When accessing the Portal or otherwise contacting the Quarantine Fee Support Team you should be aware that there are risks in transmitting information across the Internet. While DJCS strives to protect such information, it cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information transmitted over the Internet and you do so at your own risk. If you are concerned about providing sensitive information to DJCS over the Internet, you might prefer to contact the department (see the ‘Contact Us’ section below).

DJCS uses SSL encryption where necessary to protect personal information which is provided to its Portal for payment and other online transactions requiring such protection.

Automatic collection by third party software vendor

DJCS uses third-party software which collects information about your interaction with the Portal.

When you visit this website, your web browser automatically sends certain information to the managed server. These tools are used to help make the site better.

Use and disclosure of web analytics data

The abovementioned web analytics software analyses, measures, and reports on data about website traffic, visits and speed. This information may help the department understand general user trends at an aggregate level, improve this website, content, and user experience, and diagnose the causes of technical issues. This information is not used by the department to identify you or match your identity with any of your personal information. The department may also use this information for security audits to protect against threats from hackers or other security purposes.

Apart from the third-party providers described in this Privacy Statement, the department does not disclose your site visit data to any other third parties without your consent, unless it is required or authorised to do so by law. In the event of an investigation into suspected unlawful or improper activity, a law enforcement or government agency may use its legal authority to inspect the department's web server's records (e.g. in relation to hacking or abusive messages).

Web beacons

The department may use web beacons to record usage statistics for its webspaces. Web beacons are not used by the department to identify you or record any of your personal information.

Transborder data flows

The information that is disclosed to some of the department's third-party providers may travel outside of Victoria. Wherever your personal information travels, your privacy protections will travel with it.

The department considers that the third-party vendors it discloses your information to are subject to privacy laws that are substantially similar to Victoria's Information Privacy Principles. All third-party software vendors the department uses on this website comply with either the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or both.

Access and correction

You may request access to, or correction of, documents that contain your personal information or health information which are in our possession. For information on how to make a request for access or correction, please contact the Quarantine Fee Support team via the details below.

In some cases, requests for access or correction will be handled in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Vic) (FOI Act).
